Bedrooms
Rest, sleep, dream...
Experiencing peaceful, restful, deep sleep is a vital key to wellness. The Monastery has five double bedrooms, all designed to encourage sound sleep. Each is uniquely decorated, with inspiration coming from the surrounds or from exceptional pieces of original New Zealand art and antique furniture.
All bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms complete with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a hairdryer and bath robe for you to use during your stay.
The Kingfisher Room
The Kingfisher Room is named for the kingfisher birds which make their home on the Waikato River. The river can be seen from the windows of this room – and sometimes kingfishers can too. The Kingfisher Room is one of the original bedrooms of the house.
The Pansy Room
Light and airy, the Pansy Room acquired its name from a beautiful artwork, bought with the house and now proudly hanging in this room. The stained timber ceiling of the Pansy Room radiates warmth, while stunning leadlight glass windows provide a frame for the view of the garden.
The Pheasant Room
Filled with light streaming through its windows, the Pheasant Room is named for its striking curtains, made from imported French fabric featuring pheasants. The centrepiece of this room is its stunning stained glass window, which graces one side of the spacious ensuite bathroom. The window is an original feature of the house and was relocated during renovations from what is now the formal lounge.
The Hibiscus Room
The bright flowers of the New Zealand hibiscus painting in this room reflect its warm and vibrant character. An antique marble-topped table sits at the side of the comfortable bed. The double-hung sash windows frame a picturesque view of the gardens and the veranda. A refreshing room for true relaxation and rejuvenation.
The Poppy Room
Quietly nestled away in an upstairs area adjoining the house is the Poppy Room. This delightful, light-filled little room takes its name from its striking poppy-covered bedspread. A wonderful room for relaxing and listening to the abundant local bird life.
